Microblading Aftercare Tips for Perfectly Healed Brows
Share
Hey friend, Elisa here from Hello Beautiful Salon. I can’t tell you how many times clients stop me after a brow appointment asking, “Okay, what do I do now?” If you’ve ever left the salon unsure about how to care for your new brows, you’re not alone. The truth is, what you do at home makes all the difference in how your brows heal and how long they last. Let’s break it down the way I explain it to clients in my chair.
The First Week: Your Brows Are Off-Limits
The first seven days are everything. Your brows are still healing, and the goal is to keep them clean and safe so the pigment sets properly. Here’s the non-negotiables I give every client:
- Keep water away. That means no swimming, no soaking in the tub, and no water dripping down in the shower. If you wash your hair, tilt your head back and be careful not to splash.
- No makeup on the brows. Foundation, powders, or pencils will only mess with the healing. You can wear makeup everywhere else, just leave the brows alone.
- Avoid sweating. Skip the gym, saunas, and hot yoga. Even long steamy showers can affect pigment retention.
- Stay out of the sun. The Texas sun near Mosley Park or even running errands by the Walmart Supercenter can be intense. If you’re outside, throw on a hat to shield your brows.
I know it feels like a lot, but this first week is when your brows set the foundation for the long-term results. Treat it seriously, and your brows will thank you.
How to Keep Them Clean
Even though you can’t splash water on your brows, you do need to keep them clean. Twice a day, use a damp cotton round with warm water and lightly wipe over each brow. That’s it. Don’t scrub. Don’t overthink it. Just a gentle wipe to clear away dust or sweat. If you notice a little color on the pad, don’t panic, it’s normal. After cleaning, apply a thin layer of the healing ointment I send you home with. Think “light moisturizer,” not “slathering on lotion.”
What Healing Actually Looks Like
Here’s the part nobody tells you but every client experiences: your brows are going to change day by day. At first, they’ll look darker than you imagined. Don’t freak out. They soften. Around a week in, they’ll start flaking or scabbing. This is when people get tempted to pick. Please, don’t. Picking is what causes patchy spots or scars. If you can tough it out, by about two weeks, you’ll start to see your real healed brows, and that’s when most clients smile and say, “Ohhh, I get it now.”
Do You Need a Touch-Up?
Most people benefit from a touch-up around the 6–8 week mark. It’s like perfecting the final details, filling in tiny gaps or making sure the shape holds evenly. Not everyone needs it, but it definitely helps brows stay sharp longer. With good aftercare, your results can last 18 months or more. Think of it as a partnership: I do the art, you do the care, and together we make your brows last.
Quick Extra Tip
Lots of my brow clients like to book makeup services with Joselinne after their brows heal. It’s a killer combo for events, date nights, or even just because you want to feel polished.
Final Words From Me
If you only remember one thing, it’s this: your aftercare matters just as much as the actual procedure. No water, no makeup, no sweating, no picking. Keep it simple, stay patient, and let your brows heal. By the time you hit that two-week mark, you’ll see why all the rules were worth it.
